Prof. Mechthild Georg

 

Mechthild Georg, Mezzo-soprano, began her musical studies in Cologne and Düsseldorf. She started her opera career at the Cologne opera house.

As a concert-soloist Mechthild Georg has widely toured throughout Europe and South-America.

Her opera repertoire began with the dramatic soprano parts of early Italian opera; it includes the breeches-parts of Baroque and Classical periods as well as contemporary dramatic music.

Mechthild Georg sang at the opera houses of Cologne, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Paris and many other cities. She successfully produced recordings of chamber music, recitals and jazz.

She demonstrated her substantial and diversified repertoire, ranging from Monteverdi to Rihm, in a great number of international concerts, opera productions and “Lieder”-performances.

Since 1998 she holds a chair at the Cologne Conservatory.
