The challenging repertoire reflects the high standard of the Cologne International Music Competition. Particular attention is paid to ensuring that the repertoire demonstrates the technical skills of the participants and that the participants are given sufficient scope for individual interpretation of the required pieces.

The competition is aimed at young singers from all over the world with a special talent and training in the field of opera and operetta singing.

To apply for the competition, please submit the following documents in full via our online application portal "muvac":

• Video recordings
  Two video recordings in MP4 format showing a personal performance are required for pre-selection. These must not be older than one year. The works required for the preselection can be found in our repertoire regulations. Each aria must be recorded in one take. Please note that music cuts, edits or technical manipulations of pitches or lengths within completed movements are not permitted.
• Artistic CV (continuous text)
  Attach a current artistic CV summarizing your previous experience and achievements.
• Copy of birth certificate or passport
  A copy of your birth certificate or passport is required to confirm your identity.
• Portrait photography
  Please send a copyright-free portrait photo, naming the photographer, which will be published in the competition program. It should be in black and white or color and in TIF format (at least 300 dpi).
