The challenging repertoire reflects the high standard of the Cologne International Music Competition. Particular attention is paid to ensuring that the repertoire showcases the technical skills of the participants and that they are given sufficient scope for individual interpretation of the required pieces.

The competition is aimed at young singers from all over the world with a special talent and training in opera and operetta singing.

To apply for the competition, please submit the following documents in full via our online application portal "muvac":

• Video recordings
  Two video recordings in MP4 format showing a personal performance are required for pre-selection. These must not be older than one year. Each aria must be recorded in one take. Please note that music cuts, editing or technical manipulation of pitches or lengths within completed movements are not permitted.
• Artistic CV (continuous text)
  Attach a current artistic CV summarizing your previous experience and achievements.
• Copy of birth certificate or passport
  A copy of your birth certificate or passport is required to confirm your identity.
• Portrait photography
  Please send a copyright-free portrait photo, naming the photographer, which will be published in the competition program. It should be in black and white or color and in TIF format (at least 300 dpi).

The selected participants will be notified by July 11, 2025 and all candidates will be informed of the acceptance or rejection of their application. The selected participants will then be asked to submit their complete competition program and proof of health insurance and to transfer an application fee of €100. The registration fee will not be refunded if you are unable to attend or cancel your application.
